Patrick Ewing and Carmelo Anthony are two of the most prominent players in New York Knicks history. They were apart for decades, but it would have been a great partnership if they could play together.
The New York Knicks have a significant share of great players over the years. This includes Bernard King and Patrick Ewing in the 1980s, Carmelo Anthony in the 2010s, and Jaren Branson in the 2020s.
They have been spoiled with great talent throughout their history. All these players would have fitted each other, but Ewing and Anthony stand out as stars who have carried the franchise for years.
In 2013, Ewing considered a hypothetical partnership between him and Anthony. It would have been a fun duo considering Anthony became a more playmaker in New York.

Ewing had many outstanding teammates throughout his career, including John Starks and Mark Jackson. However, most of them are unable to approach Anthony during his spell with the Knicks.
From 2011 to 2017, Anthony was floating the Knicks at the Eastern Conference. They may not have reached the Eastern Conference Finals, but they have always found a way to stay competitive. Unfortunately, in the later stages of his spell, the Knicks struggled to become a good team.
This included his partnership with Amar’e Stoudemire, which has been supplied so far, which could serve as a good comparison between the fictional Anthony and Ewing duo.
Ewing may have been Anthony’s perfect partner. Because he was a defensive anchor and a reliable scorer for paint. Anthony has become a much better playmaker. He and Ewing were able to perform pick-and-rolls on the post and perform high-low pass on each other.
“I would have loved to play with Melo. He’s a genuine superstar who’s an MVP type player.
“I think it’s great to have both of us on the team,” Ewing said in a 2013 episode of Dan Patrick Shaw.
“He was able to score from the outside by knocking down three. He’s an outstanding pick-and-roll and pick-and-pop player.”
“It would be a double threat. He could score in many ways. I loved playing with players in his caliber.”
It’s no surprise to see Anthony supporting Knicks Courtside at Madison Square Garden. Although he is respected as a legend there, Ewing is the franchise’s basketball ambassador.
They have a special love for the organization. This could have been interesting if they had Primed together. Unfortunately, Knicks fans didn’t have them at the same time.
Today’s Knicks players can understand that these superstars support them at every stage. This is important for younger players as they know what these players mean to the organization.
They love to give their opinions about the current team, like Ewing calls Josh Hart the Knicks version of Dennis Rodman. And it could also be when Anthony felt that Tom Thibodeau’s exit had been a long time.
Hope these two continue to support the Knicks. They are great representatives of former Knicks. Unfortunately, they weren’t playing at the same time, but they are united by their love for the team.
