The incredible signature of the Brooklyn Nets has already impressed head coach Jordi Fernandez.
Brooklyn Net has plenty of new faces on the roster for the 2025-26 NBA season. First of all, the team scored five first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Aside from these outlooks, Nets has also decided to gamble with international prospect Fanbo Zeng, as they signed a contract with their team during the offseason.
So far, Zeng has gone under the NBA Scouts radar. As a result, not many people expected the net to add him to their roster.
But after spending just a bit of time in Brooklyn, Zeng appears to have left a solid impression on Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez.
“We only had him here for a day, so we’re still caught up in the process of getting to know each other, and I think this is important for us to build that relationship,” Fernandez said on Nets’ Media Day.
He added: “But the shooting ability, the size of the position. Those were the things that stood out to me.”
Fernandez also set a 22-year-old goal ahead of his rookie year in the NBA.
“I’m excited to know him now and see him fight at training camp and go from there.”
Nets’ 2025-26 starting lineup could be a work in progress throughout the season. Zeng was shot at impressing the coaching staff and creating a place for himself.
But what should fans expect from China’s forward? Well, Zeng averaged 14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in China last season.
Given that the Chinese Basketball Association is not close to the NBA in terms of talent, Nets Fanbase should expect Zeng to spend time before delivering solid numbers.
Zeng’s short G-League stint is proof as he averaged 3.8 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game during the 2021-22 chip-off tournament.
