I can’t express my thoughts, I was just thinking about staying in the present – Jitesh Sharma
The RCB, who first chose to choose a bowl, achieved a very low performance, allowing LSG to win 227 on 3 on Rishabh Pant’s Century. Following the target, Jitesh Sharma (85*) gave an exceptional knock, with Virat Kohli (54) and Mayank Agarwal (41*) chipping with good runs to help the RCB win by 18.4 overs.
At the post-match presentation ceremony after winning the Match Award, RCB’s stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma said he wanted to follow the advice of coach Dinesh Karthik and delve deeper into it. He said:
“I can’t express my thoughts. I was thinking about staying in the present. When Virat left, I thought about digging deeper into the game.
This is a very big franchise and I enjoy the pressure – Jitesh Sharma
Jitesh Sharma added that he enjoys the pressure to lead a big franchise like royal challenger Bengaluru. He explained in detail:
“It’s a very big franchise and I enjoy the pressure. When I see these players (Virat, Krunal, Bhuvi, etc.), I’m excited to be able to play with these players.
Jitesh Sharma believes Rajat Patidar has a great away record in RCB. He added that all the players in RCB camp are match winners and that they have a lot of belief in themselves. He said:
“The credit that gave me this responsibility will go to Rajat (I will maintain an excellent record of winning from home this season). Hazlewood is right, our team’s belief system is very strong, the player you see is a matchweiner, and we have always had faith even if we lose 3-4 wickets.”
RCB was driven in a previous LSG collision
Royal Challengers Bengaluru went on a disappointing outing in his previous IPL match against the Super Giants in Lucknow, following his 28-run loss at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 2, 2024.
The RCB, who first chose to bowl, had some bright moments, but LSG was able to register a challenging total of 181/5 on the board. Glenn Maxwell picked up two wickets with 23 runs and found support from Yash Dial, Mohammed Syraj and Reese Topley.
With the bat, the RCB never settled in the middle and was eventually bundled with 153 runs in 19.4 overs. Openers Virat Kohli (22) and Faf Du Plessis (19) took the team to a decent start, with Rajat Patidar (29) and Mahipal Lomror (33 Off 13) making good contributions. However, LSG Pacer Mayank Yadav was too hot to handle RCB in that game, and the Super Giants achieved an astonishing victory.
