Tottenham Hotspur took a major step towards the tournament final with a 3-1 victory in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League semi-finals.
The North London Club took the lead early in the game through Brennan Johnson and doubled the advantages in the first half through James Madison.
Dominique Solanke found the back of the net early in the second half from a penalty spot. Bodo/Glimt managed to get on the scoresheet in the 83rd minute, but it was too little and too late. It will be interesting to see if they can turn things around in Game 2.
Tottenham’s complete control
Tottenham is definitely a better team, and the two-goal cushion could prove to define the English club.
They could easily sit on the second leg and slap the home side of the counter. Tottenham has pace and talent in a wide area to cause all sorts of Bodeau/Grimt problems during the transition.
Rob Greene was stunned at Tottenham
Meanwhile, former England international goalkeeper Rob Green remained amazed at the Tottenham player’s performance. BBC experts questioned why players did not perform at this level for the rest of the season.
He told the BBC: “It looks like Tottenham is owned by men. They’re just saying, where was this in the white shirt this season?”
The Spurs have had a disappointing season so far, finishing 16th in the league table. They didn’t do well in domestic cup competitions either. The Europa League is the best chance to win the trophy, and in one step in the final, they are going all the way and trying to raise the season. Trophy victory even keeps Ange Postecoglou at work.
