The Chicago Bulls were once one of the most famous franchises in the NBA.
After all, they were home to stars like Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippen as the duo led the franchise to six NBA championships in the 1990s.
During that time, the Chicago bull was not coached by anyone other than the legendary “Zen Master” Phil Jackson. Since then, the Bulls have been looking for another coach who could bring their team back to their glory days.
Many believe that the Bulls’ current head coach, Billy Donovan, can do so. It can be done, especially given that the organization recently re-signed him to a long-term deal.
The Bulls have only reached the postseason twice in the last decade, but have one of the league’s most popular head coaching jobs.
Donovan got a job in 2020 after five years as head coach for the Oklahoma City Thunder, leading the team to a 243-157 record.
Unfortunately, Donovan’s stint with the Bulls wasn’t the same, just as the franchise struggles to leave the mark.
In fact, Donovan has had a 48.8% win rate for the Bulls over the past five seasons. To be precise, the bull went 195-205 under Donovan.
Nevertheless, the Bulls have shown incredible confidence in Donovan as they must have begun preparing for their sixth year as the head coach of a former great franchise.
Donovan already has 10 years of coaching experience in the NBA, but his 60-year-old basketball knowledge cannot be judged based on that.
After all, before coming to the NBA in 2015, Donovan enjoyed his long, slender spells in the NCAA, along with Marshall’s thunderous flock and the Florida Gators.
Donovan’s list of achievements as a head coach for the Gators runs over the long run, including two NCAA championships in 2006 and 2007.
Donovan’s coaching ability can be easily determined by his 70.9% victory rate during his 21-year tenure at the NCAA.
