The Minnesota Timberwolves are now the best time of the franchise.
Despite being home to Kevin Garnett’s NBA legend, the Minnesota Timberwolves didn’t take long for the playoffs.
However, in the days of Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves have proven to be a perennial deep playoff team. After all, T-Wolves have competed in consecutive Western Conference finals.
The key reason behind this shift for Timberwolves is nothing but director Chris Finch.
Finch was the first to name him on the NBA coaching scene during the 2011-12 season as an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets.
Following a five-year stint in Houston, Finch joined the Denver Nuggets in the same role. However, he continued just a year before joining the Pelican in New Orleans.
In his final season with the Pelican, Finch was promoted to associate head coach. However, he once again became the assistant coach of the Toronto Raptors during the 2020-21 season, but in a simple way.
In the middle of the season, Finch won a job as head coaching for the Timberwolves. Since then, he has turned things around in Minnesota.
In 369 games, Finch helped the Timberwolves maintain a solid 209-160 record during the regular season.
Aside from his debut season with the Timberwolves, the organization has always progressed into the postseason under Coach Finch.
Of course, Finch’s impact on team culture cannot be kept modest, but if the organization failed to run a deep playoff, it would have been useless.
Well, so far, on four trips to the playoffs under Finch, the Timberwolves have made two WCF appearances. They seem to be on the verge of overcoming their biggest hurdles and reaching the NBA Finals.
The underrated fact about Finch’s tenure with the team is that the Timberwolves reached the postseason only once in 17 seasons before he arrived! Yes, the team was in such poor hands.
