The Atlanta Hawks have not been very successful in the NBA in recent years.
Despite Trae Young’s cornerstone star, the Atlanta Hawks missed the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.
However, as they recently changed head coaches, it feels like the organization is in a hurry to win the Larry O’Brien trophy.
After all, Quinn Snyder took over the Hawks coaching mission from Nate McMillan during the 2022-23 NBA season. Speaking of which, I’d like to introduce you to Coach Snyder’s quick guide to the NBA journey so far.
At 58, Snyder is by no means an inexperienced head coach. That said, Snyder already has three years of head coaching experience in Atlanta.
But what about his NBA trip before he arrived in Atlanta? Well, Coach Snyder enjoyed eight years of spells as head coach of the Utah Jazz.
During his tenure with the Jazz, the organization was one of the top teams in the Western Conference. The Jazz had a solid record of 372-264 under Snyder. They even reached the postseason in six of their eight seasons in office.
Coach Snyder also placed second in the NBA Coach of the Year Award during the 2017-18 season. Prior to that, Snyder was also an assistant coach for the La Lakers, La Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers.
All in all, Snyder is an incredible coach and the Hawks certainly should give him a real shot before rushing to make a decision about his future in Atlanta.
The main reason why Snyder is considered a basketball savant is his combination of NCAA and NBA coaching experience.
Speaking of the former, Snyder spent seven seasons as the head coach of the Missouri Tigers in the Big 12. During his tenure, the Tigers have arrived in the NCAA Tournament four times.
Overall, Snyder led the Tigers to a 126-91 record during his tenure as head coach. After leaving the Tigers in 2006, Snyder has been a mainstay in the NBA since 2010.
