One NBA expert believes the Golden State Warriors will need to address some key roster issues before next season.
In one of the biggest surprises of the season, the Golden State Warriors moved Zero’s roster this offseason.
Given how strong the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets have become to sign and deal, I think the Warriors will try to match that energy.
Draymond Green even told the Warriors how to build it around Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler. But the warriors have absolutely nothing to deal with their gap.
And this silence led to the warriors losing important players as Keebon Rooney signed the Warriors with the New Orleans Pelican nearly a decade later.
And the Warriors don’t have a perfect roster. In fact, one NBA insider doesn’t know who can help pair curry with butler next season.
Rob Mahoney appeared on Zack Lowe’s podcast. When discussing the Golden State Warriors, the two agreed to their issue.
Mahoney struggles to name the players who help Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler save their bodies. They can work well in the playoffs, but Mahoney doesn’t know if there’s a roster to get there.
“For me, I’m totally convinced that the warrior with Jimmy (Butler) is just what we’ve seen that such an end-season sprint is perfectly capable.
“I know they have this many games until the end of the year after getting Jimmy, and they have to push the finish line harder to ensure as much playoff seed as possible.
“Who is this roster player trying to make Steph (Curry) and Jimmy’s job easier in 82 games? …I don’t know if he’s reached 82 (Game) with this group…
“Who is helping Steph and Jimmy save their feet? Who is helping them reach the finish line?
“We know if they can get there, so they will compete with some of the best teams in the league.
At this point, the Golden State Warriors have no choice but to start adding young players to the roster.
We know that Al Horford and De’anthony Melton will soon be joining the Warriors. But they are also veteran players who have been suffering from injuries and fatigue for the past few years.
Needless to say, the Warriors could probably lose Jonathan Kuminga to the Charlotte Hornets. For all the young players the Warriors lose, it appears they’re replacing them with an old star.
We have seen that teams made up primarily of veteran players cannot work in the NBA. This was one of many reasons why the La Lakers failed so miserably from 2021-22.
If the Warriors want to take advantage of the final years of the era of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, they have to start adding younger players to their roster.
