Why are the Golden State Warriors moving slowly this offseason? They are "paused for one player."

The Golden State Warriors remain the only NBA franchise without any offseason moves.

The organization is linked to a variety of goals, including potential reunions between De’anthony Melton and Gary Payton II, including Al Horford and the recent Malcolm Brogdon.

However, it appears that the Warriors are not planning to move anytime soon. According to a report by NBA insider Shams Charania, they are now pausing for one player.

Charania says Jonathan Cuminga doesn’t want to hurry up and decide on a future with the Warriors.

The Young Forward refuses to accept the Golden State Warriors’ current offer and wants to explore alternative options. His hesitation created a stalemate that could go far beyond the typical offseason timeline.

Charania spoke directly with Kuminga about his situation and revealed the players’ thinking about contract negotiations with the franchise and future planning.

The positive expressed satisfaction with his current situation, maintaining a firm stance about his future.

“They wanted to get a sense of what he is like before they made other offseason moves, and I saw Jonathan Cuminga this morning in training in Miami. He’s fine. He was training well.

Kuminga’s approach involves exploring multiple paths in his representation, rather than accepting immediate solutions. His patience suggests confidence in finding better opportunities elsewhere.

“He added that he would like to continue exploring options with his agent, Aaron Turner.

Two Western Conference teams have submitted concrete offers to Golden State for Kuminga’s services. Both organizations can provide the initial role and key minutes he is looking for.

“The Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings are said to be two teams that made specific offers with warriors last week or so. They are two of the more offensive teams with Cuminga.

The initiation roll represents an important factor in the Kuminga decision-making process. A large number of Golden State veteran rotation limits opportunities for a few minutes of consistent features.

Meanwhile, the interests of Phoenix and Sacramento demonstrate their belief in the potential impact of Cuminga as a major contributor rather than a bench player.

Golden State refuses to lose Kuminga without a sign-and-trade scenario, creating even more complexity on the potential departure. The franchise appears to expect meaningful compensation for their developing talent.

“But the Warriors don’t want anything. It’s something that can be used to them as what’s offered in signings and deals. And on the other hand, with Kuminga, he’s not ready to move forward in taking the Warriors’ current offer.

Mutual dissatisfaction creates long-term standoffs that can be expanded indefinitely. Both sides remain strong despite approaching August without a resolution.

“And 24 days after the offseason, this is a staring contest on these two sides that could last much longer than this month. And we’re approaching August and the warriors this offseason are still not moving,” Charania added.

Kuminga averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists during filming at 45.4% last season, showing the potential to attract Phoenix and Sacramento.

The forward’s youth and athletic ability make him an attractive asset for teams seeking long-term building blocks.
