Caio Borralho is pleased that Khamzat Chimaev has finally become the UFC champion.
“Bolz” recorded a dominant unanimous decision victory over Doricus du Plessis in August, winning the indisputable middleweight world title. Now the undefeated Chechnya monster has a big target on its back, with everyone in the division testing themselves against a 15-0 fighter with bits.
So far, no one has appeared as a clear title contender, but that could change this Saturday when Boralho stepped into the main event spotlight due to Nassoldin’s clash with Imabov.
Looking forward to a potential clash with Chimaev, Boralho welcomed the challenge and offered some kind words to the newly created middleweight king.
“I’m happy he’s the champion now, because if people say he’s invincible, imagine how better he’ll be when someone beats him,” Boraljo told MMA Junkie. “And if that guy is me, you know, so definitely a good place right now. Feel so happy with him as a champion.
“I think he deserves it. He worked so hard for that… I was part of his training camp. I’m very happy for all of them, but I want to go there, do business and face him.”
Caio Borralho Gunning for Imavov’s No. 1 ranking in UFC Paris
Borralho will enter the UFC Paris headliners on a nine-game winning streak, including highlight reel finishes against MichałOleksiejczuk and Paul Craig. The Fighting Geek co-founder has taken a big victory over Jared Canonier on his recent outing, leading him to seventh in the rankings.
With his victory over Imavov, he could overtake the top spot and put himself in pole position for opportunities for the middleweight title.
