Dana White has a million reasons why she loves Max Holloway, but the former featherweight king’s moment at the iconic spot right now is his favorite.
Blessed’ delivered another sensational performance at UFC 318. With the BMF belt on the line, Holloway surpassed Dustin Poilier in enemy territory, defeating his former Interm Champion in his hometown, and sending “The Diamond” to his retirement on a disappointing note.
In the final 10 seconds of the Instant Classic, Holloway points to the canvas and asks the two to slug it at the moment they faded, as they did against Justingeche in the UFC 300.
“When you see Max do his points on the ground in the last 10 seconds, is there a part you think you have to stop this event? No?” “I’m going, ‘Oh, yeah. Max is actually like the only guy who wants to do it, and that’s one of the reasons why people love him.”
It is officially 318, so is Poirier’s legendary career.
Max Holloway can line up for a rematch with lightweight champion Ilia Toplia
As for Holloway, it’s possible that the BMF champion is staring at the barrel of a rematch with former featherweight foe Ilia Topuria.
“I think he’s in a great position right now,” White said when asked what Holloway would be next. “He just defended that BMF title and he ranks fourth there. For now, Max is anything possible.”
After fighting Topulia last year, Holloway moved to lighter weight. There he now sits as a fifth-place candidate, courtesy of victory over Poirier. Meanwhile, “El Matador” has already claimed this division, brutally winning the 155 pound title at UFC 317.
It appears now that Holloway is set to get another crack in the sense of undefeated Georgian in late 2025 or early 2026.
