Baseball in October officially begins on Tuesday for the Los Angeles .
Boys in Blue will host three best series in the wildcard round. Tuesday’s opening game begins at 9:08pm ET/6:08pm PT. It’s decided who the will play when the New York Mets lose to the Miami Marlins and gives the Cincinnati Reds tickets to the postseason.
There are some interesting decisions to make the relate to the position player group. Can Will Smith make it to the wildcard round? Will Michael Comfort be dropped? Is Hyeseong Kim still a realistic option to showcase for your team?
A group of 13 people projected for the wildcard round could be:
DH: Shohei ohtani (1)
There is no need to say anything about this obvious inclusion.
C: Ben Rothvett, Dalton Rushing (2)
While Will Smith’s omission is sad for the , it may make the most sense assuming the team willing to the NLDS and potentially go beyond it. You’ll want Smith to suddenly plunge into action without a ramp-up look or rhythm. Assuming he has a better hand fracture, moving more time off the field could mean he’s going to have a greater week of rest for him to return to the field.
Since coming to the trade deadline, Rortvedt’s impact has been far greater than anyone had predicted. His game call skills are elite and the pitching staff seem to enjoy his presence completely. Rush’s ability to provide left-handed power from the bench with his ability to hit in a pinch is also worth noting.
INF: Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, Max Muncie, Kike Hernandez, Miguel Rojas, Heisen Kim (6)
All reports appear to indicate that Muncie is resting for preventative reasons and that he will be able to use the 3 base spot in the round round for men.
Kim is the most suspicious name. But he has two things for him that will ultimately put him on the roster. For one, Kim is a plus defender and has the ability to play multiple spots on both the infield and outfield. Secondly, he is the fastest player on the team. Having Kim as a pinch runner is much more ideal than any other alternative if the need to manufacture running in situations later in the game.

Of: Teoscar Hernandez, Andy Pages, Tommy Edman, Michael Conforto (4)
With Kim and Comfort making the roster, Alex Cole is a strange guy in this wildcard round. The text was a bit on the wall. Conforto has started all season, for better or worse. Kim also stretches more starts compared to Cole.
Calling cards can mash left-handed pitching. The already have a better version of that player, but with Kique Hernandez it makes the more versatile version defensive. The value of Conforto is due not only to the 82nd percentile walking rate, but also to have a pop from the left side.
