There may have been speculation during the October international break that Reuven Amorim would be removed from his place in the Old Trafford dugout, but Manchester United have certainly claimed a recent boost.
The former Sporting Lisbon manager has overseen his side’s success in their last three consecutive Premier League appearances since last weekend’s action-packed 4-2 win at home to Brighton.
Momentum towards Champions League qualification is soaring and the atmosphere around Old Trafford appears to be at its highest since Amorim’s arrival 11 months ago.
However, despite spending more than £200m on the trio of Brian Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesco over the summer, United are reportedly already finalizing their plans for the January transfer window.
United are reportedly keen to strengthen their midfield, with speculation that academy graduate Koby Mainu is once again interested in signing a loan move from Manchester’s red half.
There is speculation that United are keeping tabs on the two English stars, with the Old Trafford boss set to back Amorim again for the opening game in January.
Adam Wharton – Crystal Palace
Adam Wharton may have only joined Crystal Palace last year for a fee of around £22m, but the England international has made a sensational break into Premier League football.
The former Blackburn starlet, who is enjoying a real rise to superstardom, has found his stock extremely high and is widely regarded as one of the Three Lions’ hottest midfield prospects.
Wharton, who played a leading role at the heart of Oliver Glasner’s midfield and helped Palace win their iconic FA Cup for the first time in May, has been linked with a string of Premier League giants.
As well as continuing links over a potential move beyond London to Chelsea, United have continued to praise Palace’s up-and-coming talisman since the summer, with manager Amorim reportedly admitting he could make a swoop for the 21-year-old.
The Mirror reported earlier this month that Old Trafford bosses could make a £60m offer to Palace in January, and a move to Manchester could help Wharton earn a place in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad next summer.
However, he has four years left on his current contract at Selhurst Park and Palace have shown they will not be forced into any deal that does not meet their demands amid the Marc Guehy controversy.
🗣️ “I think he’ll be a great fit. He’s the closest thing to a player like Michael Carrick in the last 20 years.”

Jobe Bellingham – Borussia Dortmund
Despite publicly rejecting interest from Premier League hotshots over the summer, many eyebrows have been raised following Jobe Bellingham’s decision to follow in his brother’s footsteps and complete a blockbuster move to Germany.
He was named the Championship’s Young Player of the Year for his performances during Sunderland’s promotion-winning campaign, leading to much speculation about a potential move to Chelsea.
But while older brother Jude may have smashed a string of records during his sensational three years at Borussia Dortmund, the 20-year-old has largely failed to find his feet in the German countryside.
He only played the final six minutes of BVB’s 1-0 home win over Cologne last weekend, but the England Under-21s were unable to find any fluidity under Niko Kovac’s guidance.
He has not made a single Bundesliga start since the end of August and it is also reported that Bellingham’s family are unhappy with his development outside England.
The Daily Express reported at the weekend that Amorim and his team were in internal discussions about Bellingham, with speculation continuing since the summer that Mainu was keen to sign a January loan move from Old Trafford.
