“It’s fine,” he said. “I’m playing today.”
There were concerns about Smith’s wrist that the home plate tag would hurt during Tuesday’s game. However, he appears to be ready to return to the lineup.
The have dealt with multiple injuries earlier this season, but Smith’s presence in the lineup should boost LA on Friday night.
The 30-year-old was one of the few batsmen who managed to avoid a slump as he hit .350/.453/.567 with three home runs and 15 RBIs in 20 games. Smith leads all catchers in batting averages, base percentage and OPS.
Smith’s injuries appear to be mild, but it was speculated that he would take further tests after the returned from a road trip. Nevertheless, the can welcome one of their best batsmen into the lineup with Paul Skenneth and the Pirates this season.
