The moment Los Angeles legend Clayton Kershaw garnered his 3,000th career strikeout, All-Star third baseman Max Mancy suffered a horrific injury after attempting to steal Chicago White Sox outfielder Michael A. Taylor to third place.
History expectations from fans of Stadium quickly turned into cold uncertainty as Muncy stepped into the clubhouse with the help of a trainer from the diamond. The third base hand is as horrifying as an injury at first, but there is no structural damage, but there is a bone bruising that should have been watching him by the sidelines for about six weeks.
Fanfare continued after Kershaw reached the glorious mark, but manager Dave Roberts recently spoke about what Hot Corner’s future looks like with the imminent trade deadline for LA.

“I don’t think it will change much when I know that Max’s certainty will return at some point,” Roberts said of the exchange deal. “I feel the options we have – yes, Max is a big loss – but I feel like I’m on the defensive side. Tommy matches right to the right. As for the two right-handers I said, I think we’ll be covered offensively.
Tommy Edman has the ability to play all over the infield (and outfield if necessary), Heisen Kim has awarded multiple Gold Globes to Nibase and shortstop, while Kike Hernandez is a utility man who can leave the lineup more flexible despite his big losses.
General Manager Brandon Gomez spoke about potential alternatives for now as the All-Star recovers.
“Even if (his recovery) is very slow,” Gomez added. “We’re going to have a month of baseball before the playoffs, so we’re giving him time to go back to a good place and try to set a good foundation to prepare for that stretch run, so that he’s going to try and do it with everyone,” he added.
Muncy got off to a terrible start to the season, hitting just .176 until May 6th. Since then, he has been hitting .305/.422/.588 with an absurd 1.009 OPS. Additionally, he has 12 long balls and 48 RBIs at that time.
The loss has come at a terrible time, but from his improvement point of view, just before the excitement of the Kershaw record, not only does Muncie’s job be there when he recovers, but it appears that much around the team is patiently waiting for the All-Star return.
