The Wolves will hold discussions with Jorgen Strand Larsen about the new contract after interest in the summer transfer window from Newcastle United.
Norwegian International lit up last season’s wolves after joining from Celta Vigo in its first loan move that became permanent this summer.
According to The Telegraph, the wolves hope to bring Larsen into a new contract, aiming to combat interests from Newcastle and others.
The report adds that wolves do not want to include release clauses in their 25-year-old contract.
Will Jorgen Strand Larsen stay in the wolves?
After an impressive record of 14 Premier League goals last season, Wolves keeping Larsen is a big boost.
Vitor Pereira’s side could struggle to wake up this season after losing key players like Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri in the summer.
Losing Larsen in the near future is another big blow, but he certainly seems to make sense as someone like Newcastle will target again in the future.
It may also be positive that Larsen’s deals do not have a release clause, and it may also make it easier for sagas like Cunha to roll out again.
It seemed pretty clear that the club would be willing to pay the Cunha clause, or at least get closer to it, making it difficult for the wolves to negotiate more vigorously to advance the star.
However, it remains to be seen whether Newcastle will return to Larsen.
Still, it’s not easy to replace Alexander Isaac, who set out for Liverpool.
