Trouble is rapidly escalating at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
According to Football Insider, the club’s owners, China-based conglomerate Fosun International, are expected to arrive at Molineux this weekend to decide on head coach Vitor Pereira’s departure.
The timing couldn’t have been worse, with Wolves sitting at the bottom of the Premier League with two points after nine games, and a 3-2 home defeat to fellow strugglers Burnley reportedly caused alarm within the boardroom.
Wolves are ready to make a decision on Vitor Pereira
The delegation at the stadium included around 11 key figures from Fosun, all of whom watched the performance that many believe sealed Pereira’s fate.
The Portuguese coach took over from Gary O’Neill in December 2024 and won a contract extension just a few months later, signing him to Molineux until 2028.
However, despite long-term efforts, performance has been surprisingly weak.
Wolves are yet to win the league this season and currently sit bottom of the league with just two points from nine games.
The loss reportedly deepened the board’s concerns about direction, investment returns, and leadership.

Premier League strugglers have some problems
Beyond the results, there are broader questions. Wolves underwent a major overhaul in the summer, with six new signings arriving, but the huge investment has yet to translate into impressive performances.
A decision regarding Pereira’s future could be imminent, whether to retain him with additional transfer support or bring in a new player.
The presence of the delegation at Molineux speaks volumes about the tension within the club.
Sunday’s loss may have been the decisive blow. While the contract situation suggested long-term confidence, the impending crisis forces Wolves’ owner to make a big decision.
