The Women’s PGA Championship raised wallets for major tournaments to $12 million, responding to last month’s US women’s opening in the biggest wallet of the season.

On Boot, the winner of the 156-player field at Fields Ranch East, PGA Frisco, Texas, this week, will pocket $1.8 million.

The wallet was $10.4 million at last year’s Women’s PGA Championship.

“We’re extremely proud to be able to do that,” said Paul KPMG Chairman and CEO of Boost in the Wallet with each Golf Digest. “It’s all part of creating the standard of excellence in women’s golf, and the wallet is a very important part of that.

“…When we think about the excellence we are trying to endure to bring about success, we consider it the ultimate strategy. We continue to play this tournament on an iconic course that is recognized by the golf community every year.

South Korean Amy Yang postponed the field at the Women’s PGA Championship last year due to her first career major title at Saharry Country Club in Sammamish, Washington.

Yang defeated Lilia Vu, South Korean Jin Youngco and Japanese Miya yu in three shots with a 7-under 281 card for the tournament.
