Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has reportedly given the club a list of four midfielders he would like to sign, including big names from Liverpool and Chelsea.
Real lost 1-0 to Liverpool at Anfield in this week’s crucial Champions League match, with Alexis Mac Allister scoring the winner with an impressive display against Alonso’s side.
The Spanish tactician is said to be keen to add the Argentine international, currently in a questionable position at the Bernabéu, to his squad.
According to Ficajes, Madrid had signed Martin Zvimendi before leaving for Arsenal, but their attention has now shifted to Mac Allister, Enzo Fernandes, Adam Wharton and Vicinha.
Could Real Madrid sign Alexis Mac Allister from Liverpool?
Mac Allister is an important player for Liverpool, so it will certainly not be easy for Los Blancos to convince the Reds to sell him.
However, the 26-year-old looks like an ideal fit for this Madrid team. Because Alonso lacks a player who can dictate plays like that in the middle of the park.
LFC fans will no doubt be hoping that Mac Allister will stay and continue to contribute to the team’s success. Because it really hurts to lose another big name to Real after Trent Alexander-Arnold left this summer.
Who would be the ideal midfield player for Real Madrid?
Fernandes, Wharton and Vicinha could also play important roles in Alonso’s team, but who is best suited for the job?
Looking at the image below from DataMB, it appears that Vicinha is by far the best player on the list, especially in terms of creativity and passing…
Still, Vicinha is probably not the most realistic target given that he is a key player for PSG, while a player like Wharton will no doubt be looking for a big move away from Crystal Palace in the not too distant future.
However, Mac Allister may make the most sense as the ideal all-rounder to fill that role, as he has the best defensive ability.
