According to Simon Rolfes, director of Bayer Leverkusen Sporting (Via Goal.com), Xabi Alonso cleared all the uncertainties about his future by notifying his employer that he would remain this summer. The statement comes amid a lot of speculation about Carlo Ancelotti being replaced by Real Madrid and former midfielder.
Alonso enjoys real and fruitful stints as a player, winning the LaLiga title, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey. He also wore boots and turned his eyes to coaching in 2017 after winning three Bundesliga titles at Liverpool, the Champions League and Bayern Munich. He is still widely expected to be in charge of one of these clubs at some point in the future, but the moment is not nearing for the time being.
At this point, Alonso is signed with Leverkusen until 2026, and the dominant Bundesliga champion expects him to celebrate its full length.
