Los Angeles ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto was constant in the starting spins that remained fluid throughout the 2025 season. The right-hander gave the some quality start and continued doing so at Bush Stadium on Saturday.

Yamamoto pitched six scoreless innings against the St. Louis Cardinals. The 26-year-old threw nine strikeouts and issued two walks and four hits.
Despite a standout out from the ace, the Cardinals defeated LA 2-1. The lineup struggled to provide Yamamoto with run support, but they had the chance to do so several times during Saturday’s game.
The , the best batting team in MLB, were 25-1 in RISP at St. Louis on Friday and Saturday with runners in scoring position (.301).
Yamamoto spoke about the lack of run support from the ‘ attack after Saturday’s outing.
“It’s part of baseball,” Yamamoto said through an interpreter. “Sometimes they have my back. Sometimes they struggle and I try to give them what I have for the team. That’s part of the game.”
Yamamoto is 6-4 this season with 1.005 whips pitched in ERA 2.20, 86 strikeouts and 73.2 innings. The right-hander was one of the most effective pitchers in the National League, but his winning record may not reflect that.
With Yamamoto’s six starts, the game was decided in just one run. Nevertheless, the seemed to be on track by scoring seven runs in the series finale against the Cardinals Sunday.
