Yamamoto pitched 41 pitches and left the mound with a 5-0 deficit. He was replaced by left-handed Jack Dlayer. Jack Dreyer recorded the inning final.
Things quickly got off to a rough start for Yamamoto as he allowed a leadoff double to Sal Freric. He then walked through William Contreras before recording a back-to-backout to set up a potentially clean inning.
Recently called, Andrew Vaughan, who was recently called since being bought in a midseason trade, built his first start for the brewer, hitting a three-run home run from Yamamoto in Milwaukee’s first at-bat. Yamamoto then allowed a single and another walk, and Mookie’s Betts throw error allowed another run to score, allowing the inning to continue.
After No. 9 batter Andruw Monasterio hit a Bloop single for RBI, manager Dave Roberts came out of Dugout and removed Yamamoto from the game.
Yamamoto was the ace all year round and started with a 2.51 ERA that swelled to 2.77.
He was named after Clayton Kershaw, Will Smith, Shohai Otani and Freddie Freeman as representatives, and was named after his first All-Star Game.
