The Golden State Warriors are currently the only team not to be added to the roster during NBA free agency.
In fact, instead of improving the roster ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season, the Golden State Warriors were exacerbated by the departure of veteran center Kevon Rooney.
Rooney signed with the New Orleans Pelican on a two-year deal. Losing Rooney was a big blow as he was a versatile big man who could play both power forward and center.
With Rooney’s departure confirmed, 23-year-old Moses Moody is expected to take additional responsibility and can even play as PF. But is this a wise move?
With the NBA free agency in earnest, NBA analyst Zach Lowe recently discussed the total lack of movement from the Warriors this offseason.
NBA experts have expressed misfortune at the Warriors’ lack of power forward on their roster.
“I think Moses Moody is moving forward now, but the lack of other power forwards on this team is awkward for me,” he told Zacklowshaw.
That’s certainly true. But who can realistically sign? Lowe believes the New York Knicks star was a “great” addition to the roster.
“Maybe they’ll sign someone I don’t think about. A guy like Yabucere would have been the best on this team,” added Lowe.
Due to context, after spending a breakout year with the Philadelphia 76ers last season, Yabucele fell down by the franchise. As a result, Yabucere signed with the Knicks on a two-year contract.
The Western Conference has collectively improved this offseason. The La Lakers signed DeAndre Ayton, and the Houston Rockets made a deal with Kevin Durant.
Additionally, the Denver Nuggets appear to have won free agency in multiple moves to improve the roster around Nicola Jokic.
However, the Warriors front office was very quiet. But does that mean that the team is not targeting players?
Well, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Warriors are aiming for Al Horford and DeAnthony Melton.
At this point, there is no confirmation whether the movement will come to fruition, but the dub fanbase is hoping for an update sooner than later.
