A major update has been revealed regarding the Rangers star’s future at Ibrox, exposing the 49ers Enterprise to the temptation of a sale and revealing his potential price tag in the January transfer window.
Gers, under Danny Rolle, have found much-needed form with three successive wins in the Scottish Premiership.
A number of players have performed better under the German manager than under Russell Martin, with Nicholas Raskin in particular impressing in Sunday’s 3-0 league win away at Dundee, leading the visitors’ midfield battle.
The Belgian fell out of favor under his former manager and publicly explained why he was left out of Rangers’ squad to face Hearts earlier this season.
“He’s not going to be on the team tomorrow. We’re having a lot of conversations like we are with other players, but he’s back training with the team and that’s a good step. Now he has a duty, just like every other player, to make sure he earns the trust of all his other teammates, the coaching staff, the staff in the building to win football games.”
Rangers could sell Ruskin for £20m in January
Now, according to a new update from team talkRangers and the 49ers are willing to sell Raskin in January and could demand up to £20m in signing fees, despite Rolle having “consistently praised” his influence and sees him in their long-term plans. Two unknown teams in Serie A are considering their plans for the new year.
Although £20m “might be enough” to sign Ger midway through the season, the Scottish side are “aware that his market value has increased, particularly after another impressive international break against Belgium, where he was widely praised for his composure and work rate.”
Opinions may be divided over the possibility of Rangers letting Ruskin leave the club in January, especially as he has shown quality in the locker in recent weeks and has even been praised by Derek Ferguson in the past. “Ruskin has been phenomenal since he started taking care of himself. It’s his drive, it’s his ability on the ball.”
The 24-year-old is under contract at Ibrox until the summer of 2027, so a big decision will need to be made relatively early if Gers want to seize the opportunity to get him a big fee and avoid losing him on a free transfer at that point.
Having said that, waiting until the summer feels like a wise choice, allowing Raskin to remain at the club for the remainder of this season and giving Rohr’s side the best possible chance of success both domestically and in Europe.
