LONDON – Alexia Seinara believes the UFC debut has signaled changes to security guards in the female strawweight division.

Thainara (12-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) took part in a short battle on Saturday at the UFC Fight Night 255 (ESPN+) at O2 in London, following his contract award-winning performance in the Dana White nominee series this September. Notifications for more than a week and for British fan favorites at Molly McCann, there was no problem with Thainara introducing them.

After the fight, 34-year-old McCann announced his retirement.

“Everyone was asking me about coming to me and fighting the giant star of her house, but the reality is, we are all the stars of the UFC,” Thainara said at a postwar UFC Fight Night 255 press conference. “I’m happy that she had a long career. I think she’s done a lot. But this is my time and she can feel the comfort she’s lost to someone who has a big heart and someone who’s happy to be here.”

Thainara enjoyed every step of her debut, dancing as she went out to the Octagon as a London visitor. She had no problem taking a short, unknowing opportunity, as the UFC was waiting every time they made a call.

“My (manager) says that fighters need to be ready. Since fighting in the Contender series, he has been saying, ‘Alexia, you need to train. You need to be ready.’ And that’s what happened,” Thainara said. “The UFC has the best matchmakers in the world. Sean (Shelby) and Mick (Maynard) – they called me and I delivered.”
