Luka Doncic’s trade to La Lakers continues to generate debate and discourse about the NBA in every game, with the latest being a hot take.
The Luka Doncic deal was a very large event, so Anthony Davis is often a superstar, although an age and availability slides.
Still, he won the ring alongside the Los Angeles Lakers, and for that reason, the fanbase always thanked him.
But Colin Cowherd now says Donsic’s arrival tends to disappear into the background of one Los Angeles star.
It’s strange to see the two players’ careers now very closely linked and a bit unfair. Because in terms of style, the two couldn’t be more different.
The Lakers have given up on size to enhance their ball handling and scoring, as evident from the attempt to trade with Mark Williams immediately after the transaction.
Generally, having a big dominant thing on the roster allows the guard to easily throw the ball at him, but in Davis’s case, according to Colin Cowhard, the guards weren’t having a good time.
Speaking about his podcast, Cowhard said Donsic’s arrival made him worried about Austin Reeves and that if he had enough touches, what he saw was “the most impressive version of the player.”
He added that Doncic released him in order to do his best while Reaves struggled to join Davis.
Cowherd said: “When Luka came, I thought he would get a lot of touches. Austin was the most impressive thing he’d done to me. I’m honestly thinking with Anthony Davis, so sometimes there’s a sense and sometimes I might be wrong about this, but sometimes I thought “slow.”
“We tried using him, this is an opportunity for LeBron on this half-court set. Let’s take him to Anthony Davis, and with Luka and LeBron, the tempo really feels like it’s playing in the Austin game.
“Because Austin is a good passerby. He likes contact, he likes the ball. He can play off-ball, he moves, I feel odd, I thought Luka was net negative. I feel like making Austin better.”
Reaves has been close to an All-Star level since Luka Doncic Trade, so it’s fascinating to stop him from Anthony Davis.
However, as Reaves was in the middle of their breakout season from the beginning of this year, when you look at Raw Stats you will see another picture.

Either way, the credits for Reaves’ breakout are given to only one man, and it’s clear that it’s Reaves himself.
Reeves’ breakouts will be further in the spotlight as Don Sic’s arrival and noise around the trade are increasingly scrutinized around the Lakers, but the cause of the spotlight is not Donis, and he was not held back by Davis.
