La Lakers and Lebron James don’t look that happy anymore, but does that mean the superstars should leave?
La Lakers and Lebron James have stirred up quite a bit of drama this offseason. As the Lakers tried to mark the arrival of the Luka Donsic era, James’ role on the team became the subject of great debate.
It is clear that the Lakers will prioritize Donsic over James in the future. For a once-in-a-lifetime superstar like LeBron James, it must be a difficult drug to swallow.
James wants to compete for the NBA championship before retiring, but the Lakers haven’t moved their roster to make it viable as things stand.
The Lakers and LeBron James have been committed to each other for the time being, but that’s not much to slow down trade rumors.
But is that the best course of action for either side? According to one NBA analyst, James and the Lakers are more likely to achieve their goal together.
Clutch Point ‘La Lakers expert Anthony Irwin has published an article discussing LeBron James’ prospects of saying goodbye to the La Lakers.
LeBron hasn’t liked the direction of the team since trading with Russell Westbrook. Irwin feels it’s better to be with James and the Lakers, as they have more shots to compete for the NBA championship than torn apart.
“On LeBron James’ part, I’ve really been unhappy with the Lakers’ lack of direction since Russell Westbrook’s trade.
“Everything is getting pretty messy, but the reality is that it’s better for each other.
“There’s no trade that would give James a better chance in the title than the Lakers are playing with Don Sic.”
Irwin also theorized that if the La Lakers run with a strong start to the season, LeBron James and Luka Donsic could put pressure on the front office to make big deals.
“One thing to pay attention to as we get closer to the season is that if the Lakers schedules are backloaded like they normally do and they keep running, I’m really curious if Luka and LeBron push FOs to buy them on the previous occasion.”
Things can be interesting if the Lakers get a strong schedule to start the season or run it by December.
Their positive performance leverage will be strong. And Luka Donsic and LeBron James can use it as evidence of a championship possibility.
However, Rob Perinka is infamous. And he may not want to add assets to what would become the winning formula at the time.
