Hooker Bongi Mbonambi quietly spoke about his favorite tag as South Africa prepares to face Argentina, the Rugby Championship decision maker in London on Saturday.
Springbox won a match against Argentina 67-30 in Durban last week and is currently one point ahead of the rugby championship standings.
However, despite winning the final two games with an impressive score, the other is Wellington’s record 43-10 victory over the All Blacks, with Mbonambi looking forward to a tough outing in London.
“If you look at last week’s game, you can see that the score isn’t as easy as it suggests,” Mbonambi said.
“It definitely isn’t a walk in the parks in Durban, and more than that, there’s a lot of potential for a week in rugby, so we need to get out there and do our best on the field to get the results we want.
“We get closer to each match every day. When you think you’re on top, you can be humble right away, so we respect them getting into this match.
“They’ll be hurting last week, so we’ve done our homework first, but we’ve been doing our homework. Preparation is on track. It’ll definitely be a climber in the game’s arms. We’re hoping for proper retaliation from them on Saturday.”
With the experienced Malcolm Marx, Mbonambi was excited to have another opportunity to join the team in the match this season, having a hooker feel their presence this season.
“It’s always an honor and privilege to be on a team. When you’re not in the setup, you’re really missing it,” Mbonambi said.
“There’s competition in every position, but we love it. The coaches have shown that if you’re good enough, they’ll choose you. The important thing is when you get the chance, you have to play as much as you can.
“It was great to see how Jan-Hendrik and Marnus are growing and growing as players. And everyone is incredible in the competition.”
