‘It’s not working’ – Shearer targets Isak after struggling since joining Liverpool from Newcastle

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has taken clever aim at Alexander Isak, with his move to Liverpool this summer seemingly not going well so far.

Shearer would not have been happy to see Isak leave St James’ Park for a big move to Anfield and perhaps he is enjoying feeling a little smug about the Sweden international’s dip in form.

Isak was a star player at Newcastle but has had a slow start to life at Liverpool, having scored just one goal in six appearances so far this season.

However, one important thing to note is that Isak barely spent any pre-season as he was on strike in his bid to leave Newcastle.

But Shearer feels that Isaac’s actions don’t seem to be of any use to her.

Shearer told Betfair, as reported by the Daily Mirror: “It hasn’t been the start to the season that Isak would have liked. If you take into account Sweden’s front three of Gökeres, Isak and Elanga, they haven’t been able to score and are on the brink of missing out on a World Cup place.”

“Obviously, it’s not surprising that the manager paid the price and lost his job. Obviously in the situation at Newcastle, Isak is not playing, he is not training, he is not in full force with Liverpool, of course. He probably was aiming for full fitness in this international break, but it has gone the other way.”

“It didn’t work out. Neither he nor they are scoring and they can’t score. Given the caliber of the front three, being bottom of the group doesn’t seem right at all. The summer certainly didn’t help Isaac.”

Liverpool fans probably shouldn’t panic just yet as it’s still early days for Isak, who looked like a world-class player at Newcastle.

Still, if Isak can find the back of the goal as soon as possible and calm the atmosphere inside Anfield, it will be of great help to LFC during this difficult patch of form.
