PETERSBURG, Fla. — Valerie Camillo will assume leadership of women’s professional tennis as the new president of the WTA Tour and WTA Ventures, effective next month.
The WTA announced Camilo’s hiring on Tuesday. She will start on November 17th, replacing outgoing tour chairman Steve Simon.
“I am honored to lead the world’s number one women’s sport at such a critical time,” said Camilo. “The WTA has a long history of driving progress and pushing boundaries for athletes and fans alike.”
“These are important times for women’s tennis, with important decisions ahead that will shape the future of our players, tournaments, fans and partners,” she said.
Camilo serves on the boards of Herschend Family Entertainment and the University of Virginia Athletics Foundation. She previously served as president and CEO of Comcast Spectacor’s sports and entertainment division, where she oversaw business operations for the Philadelphia Flyers and Wells Fargo Center, and held senior positions with the Washington Nationals and NBA.
