Former Crystal Palace player and manager Alan Pardew has said there is a possibility that Marc Guehi will go abroad instead of joining Liverpool.
The England international had a fantastic time at Selhurst Park and was very close to joining Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
However, Palace broke his contract with the Reds at the last minute as they did not have time to sign a replacement in defence.
The situation is different now, as Guehi’s contract with Palace is nearing the end of his contract and he will be able to negotiate with overseas clubs from January onwards.
It is well known that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also currently interested in Guehi, and Pardew believes a move abroad is likely for the 25-year-old.
Marc Gehi hints at possibility of transfer to major European club
Discussing Guehi’s future, Pardew made the big prediction that he probably won’t move to Liverpool for now.
“My guess is that with the clause in January where the club can sign him, an international transfer will be an option and I think Munich will be in the box. And I think it will be similar to Real Madrid. They have a similar model. They want some influence and change and value in the contract,” Pardew told Sky Sports.
“So he would play for any team and I think it would be great for England at the World Cup. “My view is that Marc is actually in a better position than if he ended up at Liverpool.”
Liverpool have been linked with Ronald Araujo as Guehi’s replacement, and with Ibrahima Konate nearing the end of his contract, it is expected that the Merseyside giants will soon have to explore other options.
