While trying to pass Jack Miller, he removed Alex Lyns from the track and sent him to the final spot in Italy’s MotoGP sprint on Saturday.
Monster Yamaha Rider settled in the first half of the 11th before taking part in a three-lap battle with Miller, Enea Bastianini and Fermin Aldegar.
Lyns temporarily climbed to 10th after overtaking the mirror and struggling with hard front tires, but was shuffled on the 13th as the skirmishes continued.
Trying to respond, #42 ran wide to avoid contact with the Pramac Yamaha rider and not rejoin the back of the field.
“I was trying to pass Jack in corner 10, but I was there, and I was there to my limit.
“I grew bigger to avoid the shock, but after that little incident, I was struggling with the sprint today.”
Chatting was the main issue for Lyns and his factory teammate Fabio Cartalaro.
“Neither Fabio nor Alex had the necessary sense to protect their position,” said team director Massimo Melegari.
“The bike behaviour was different this afternoon in very hot conditions, and both riders suffered from lack of grip and vibration.”
Lyns eventually regained one position by passing Hondalukee’s Somkiat Chantra and surpassing race winner Mark Marquez by 18th place, past 24.661.
“I didn’t feel good in the race, but I did it during the second quarter,” said Linds, who set the best Mugelo rap to be categorized as 0.675 seconds in Marquez’s record pole time.
“I am very pleased with this as I have improved my personal best lap time at Muguero about 0.4 seconds.
“We’ll start with the ninth time tomorrow. Let’s see what we can do!”
The Mugello MotoGP race begins at 2pm local time.
