Antonio Carlos Jr. moved to the PFL World Tournament with a glossy yet effective performance against Carl Moore of Orlando, Florida.
Much of the opening round was contested on the mat after Carlos Jr. landed a takedown. However, the drama continued after Moore came back towards the fence and ate an illegal knee on his head. The referee immediately paused the action, and instant replay confirmed that the knee was indeed illegal.
Fortunately, Moore was able to continue, but the umpire issued a harsh warning to Carlos Jr. for an unintended strike.
Once the fight resumed, Carlos Jr. quickly put Moore on the mat and rode the rest of the round with top control. That trend continued in the second stanza, but Moore certainly gave himself no favor by trying to decide with his opponent.
With Carlos Jr. running out of gas, he was pleased to try and run the clock by filming multiple takedowns. Moore went out to fight in 20 seconds and unleashed the barrage of strikes, but Carlos Jr. fished for a slow heel hook. That led him to embark on the rest of the round and mercilessly took us to the scorecard.
