Kevin Pietersen sparked a new debate about modern Test cricket by stating that batting today is easier than 20 years ago. Comments from the former England cricketer came after Joe Root became the second-highest runcourt in the Test during an ongoing match against India in Manchester.
Joe Root surpassed legendary Jack Charis and Ricky Ponting among the best lanchors of Test cricket’s history. The England batsman averaged 51.18 and scored 13,409 runs in 157 Tests. He only tracks Sachin Tendulkar. He is the best rungeter in Test history, continuing his 15,921 runs from 200 Tests.

”Don’t shout at me, but batting these days is much easier than 20/25 years ago! It’s probably twice as much! ” Petersen wrote on Saturday on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Petersen performed 104 tests in England, scoring 8,181 runs on an average of 47.28, including the 23rd and 35th centuries. Petersen contributed to the UK’s iconic 2005 Ashes victory. He also represented England with 136 ODIs and 37 T20Is during his international career from 2005 to 2013.

Kevin Pietersen questioned the quality of modern bowling by listing several legendary bowlers from the previous generation and challenging fans to find current players of similar standards.

Joe Root beats the 38th century in Manchester
Joe Root scored 150 out of 248 balls as England scored a total of 544/7 on stumps on Friday. The home team holds a 186-run lead after India was fired for 358 in the first innings.
The route won the 38th century in Test cricket, comparable to the tally of Kumar Sangakhala. He is the fourth joint on Century Getter’s all-time best list. Only Ricky Ponting (41), Jack Karis (45) and Sachin Tendulkar (51) scored.
The English batter was in great shape in the series, averaging 67.16, including 2nd century and 50, and scoring 403 runs in seven innings. He also shared the partnership of the century with Ollie Pope (71) and Ben Stokes (77*), putting England in a dominant position.
Ben Stokes continues to shine with his captaincy and all-around performances throughout the series. With England leading 2-1, they are good to clinch the series. The Indian team leading Shabman’s Gills will need strong efforts to level the contest.
