Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly among the clubs interested in a potential move for Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard.
The Norway international has put in some world-class performances during his time at the Emirates Stadium and it’s no surprise that Europe’s elite are keeping an eye on his situation.
Odegaard last signed a new contract in 2023 and is locked down until 2028, so Arsenal don’t have much to worry about for now.
Yet, according to Viharges, the Gunners are now hoping to give Odegaard a new and improved contract to reflect his importance to the team, with Bayern and PSG emerging as potential transfer suitors.
Can Arsenal keep Martin Odegaard?
Arsenal’s new sporting director, Andrea Berta, has done a fantastic job since taking over at the start of the year, making some exciting signings over the summer and also securing a number of key players to new contracts.
Berta has already signed the likes of Gabriel Magalhães, William Saliba, Miles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri and David Raya, and there is no doubt that he wants Odegaard to be one of the big names for the future.
Although Odegaard has been plagued by injury problems this season, he remains a huge influence and the AFC will no doubt want him to be part of the project for years to come.
Martin Odegaard: From Real Madrid wonder boy to Arsenal leader
At just 16 years old, Odegaard was already one of the biggest names in world football and joined Real Madrid.
It was clear that Odegaard was a phenomenal player with huge potential, but he struggled to get chances at the Bernabéu and had to go out on loan several times.
In many ways, Odegaard had to develop quickly and his development at Arsenal showed he was capable of doing so.
Initially joining on loan, Odegaard made a huge impression before joining on a permanent deal and it wasn’t long before Mikel Arteta promoted him to captain of the club.
Since then, he has never looked back and Arsenal will no doubt do everything in their power to prevent him from joining teams like Bayern or PSG.
