Miller, 26, was a candidate to score a spot in the ‘ opening day rotation. However, he took a line drive from his head in the first game of Cactus League play.
Miller opened the season with Triple A, making two starts and three appearances, earning a 2.25 ERA in 12 innings.
Now he will have the opportunity to make a strong impression at the major league level after suffering a massive sophomore slump.
Miller entered the scene in 2023, pitching 11-4 with 3.76 ERA in 124.1 innings, with a 22 start. However, in 2024 he went 2-4 with an ERA of 8.52 in 56 innings.
The need one of the young pitchers who stand out in the rotation along with Blake Snell, who is currently on the injured list. If Miller got off to a strong start on Wednesday, he could have scored at least one start at the big league level.
