Barcelona, Spain – Top seed Carlos Alcaraz will play Holga Rune in Barcelona’s open title after Saturday’s straight set semi-finals.
No. 2 Alcaraz defeated No. 14 Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-4, while Rune dispatched Karen Khachanov 6-3, 6-2 on outdoor clay.
Alcaraz holds a 2-1 record against Rune, who is in 13th place. The 21-year-old pair have not yet met on clay. Alcaraz won the final meeting at Wimbledon in 2023.
Alcaraz won his first Monte Carlo Masters title last weekend, looking for his third title of the year and the 19th of his career. He won the Barcelona Open in 2022 and 2023.
Rune has four career titles.
“I was a little kid so I was here on Sunday watching the final,” Alcaraz said. “I’ve played here twice so getting into the final here at Barcelona means a lot again. It was a really fun and great week. Let’s see if we can finish with the trophy tomorrow.”
