Arsenal may have a great signing when they move in for Julian Alvarez, but according to Charles Watts, it looks like a difficult and expensive deal to do.
Argentina International has been shining since moving to Atletico Madrid this season, finishing its campaign with a total of 34 goals and five assists in all club and country competitions.
Alvarez also had previous experience in the Premier League and was an impressive team player for Manchester City, even if he didn’t start the game regularly.
Arsenal will certainly do well to bring Alvarez this summer as they need a new sign up ahead of time, but Watts explained to us that he can’t see it happening.
Sorry Arsenal Fan – Julian Alvarez’s transfer is unlikely
Discussing ahead with Alvarez about possible Arsenal targets, Watts said this in his latest exclusive column Catch off side: “I’ve seen Julian Alvarez’s link and a lot of Arsenal fans have asked me about them. But I have to admit, I would be surprised if there’s so much more to this than speculation.
“The report comes from Spain and suggests that Arsenal is a club that “pushes the most difficult” for Alvarez, but I can’t see it myself.
“Don’t get me wrong. I think he’s a great signing for Arsenal. He’s going to bring something to an offense that Mikel Arteta doesn’t have now. He’s a live wire and someone who won’t stop pulling the defender from position.
“When Gabriel Jesus first arrived, it was something he provided in the early months that “changed the world of Arsenal,” and uses the quotes used by Mikel Arteta.
“A lot of what I saw with Jesus the first few months before my World Cup injury, which is what Alvarez brings, is a move that appeals to me.
Julian Alvarez is happy in Spain and looks too expensive for Arsenal
“But it all feels a bit fantastical to me.
“First of all, Alvarez is very pleased in Spain on all accounts. He loves there and hasn’t pinned exactly to return to the Premier League.
“And there’s the money involved. Players like Benjamin Sesco and Victor Gyoker aren’t cheap, but if he moves out of Atletico they’ll still be much cheaper than Alvarez.”
