The Toronto Raptors made a massive decision to say goodbye to Masai Ujiri almost a month ago.
In the 12 years that Masai Ujiri was with the Toronto Raptors, they achieved immeasurable success. He was one of the pillars of the franchise when he won the NBA Championship in 2019.
Ujiri was not afraid to make brave decisions. It was when he fired Dwayne Casey in 2018 after he won the Coach Award of the Year.
However, seven years later, Casey could be on his way back to the Raptors, but Ujiri is no longer part of the franchise.
Casey is currently the front office executive for the Detroit Pistons, an Eastern Conference rising team.
Shortly after being fired by the Raptors, he was hired by the Pistons and was head coach until 2023 before moving on to the front office role.
The 68-year-old did an incredible job of transforming the team and making important decisions, including drafting Cade Cunningham, who won his first All-Star appearance last year.

Casey will meet Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, according to the Detroit Free Press.
He has already gone through multiple rounds and is one of the candidates alongside Raptors general manager Bobby Webster.
The Raptors will enter the 2025-26 season as a team that could become a huge hit or flop.
They have talented players like Scotty Burns, Brandon Ingram, RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, but injuries often limit the Raptors’ progress.
Barrett’s name is in the trade market round, but the team has yet to find the ideal deal for him.
Ingram was expected to move, but the team gave him a massive three-year, $120 million contract.
The Raptor is already in the first apron and there is no player who can necessarily lead them to a deep playoff run.
Both Burns and Ingram are talented, but have yet to prove their ability in the playoffs. The team pays the young people well, but they don’t have the power to fuss in the East.
The Raptors have a younger core, but the new president will need to look at the roster again to see if they will help them succeed in the long term.
They were involved in trade negotiations for players like Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetocomo. But they must first hire a strong president. They help change the fate of the team.
