The Global Fight League has cancelled its first two events planned for May 24th and May 25th in Los Angeles, with questions swirling about whether the promotion will fall off the ground.

Andy Foster, executive director of the California Athletics Committee, confirmed that both events scheduled to be held at the Los Angeles shrine auditorium have been cancelled. Additional sources close to fighters have announced they will compete on cards. Sports.

There are still ongoing discussions about the possibility of rescheduling the event on a much later date in 2025, but it is unclear if the GFL-signed fighters will stick after launching the promotion after they start the promotion.

When GFL was first announced, there was early discussion about the launch in April, and was eventually planned for May in Los Angeles. Currently, these events have been cancelled, so it is still unknown if the GFL will end before it starts.

The startup promotion, led by former PFL executive Darren Owen, has now signed a number of prominent names on the roster after announcing plans to launch the organization in 2025.

The first two cards alone featured names such as Tony Ferguson, Dillon Danis, Chad Mendes, Anthony Pettis, Benson Henderson, Holly Holm, Urija Farber, Rennan Barao, Alexander Gustafson, Page Vanzant and Cat Zingano.

Many fighter jets have been signed into the GFL, including former UFC champion Chris Weidman. Before actually resigning, Chris Weidman planned to receive an offer to sign the promotion, hoping he would eventually win a rematch with Luke Rockhold.

Many of the fighters who signed the GFL spoke about the incredibly generous financial terms offered in a contract to sign it there.

Currently, the entire future of GFL looks uncertain, with the first two cards being cancelled and there is no definitive plan for what comes next.
