Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer thinks there is no way to return to Manchester United for Marcus Rashford.
Rashford joined Unai Emery’s Aston Villa on a short loan agreement during his last winter window. He’s been on fire since making the move and certainly worked well for all involved.
His impressive performance sparked rumors that he could return to Reuben Amorim’s plan at Old Trafford. However, Alan Shearer feels that for the 27-year-old there is no way to go back.
While talking about the rest, the Football Podcast alongside Gary Lineker and Micah Richards stated on Chronicle Live:
“He made it clear that he doesn’t want. Man United is in the Premier League quagmire, but he thinks that getting him out of the club is the best answer. There’s no way for him to go back there while Amorim is there.”
Rashford wasn’t in the best form for the first half of the season, and things went worse following his arrival after Reuben Amorim arrived towards the end of 2024. The Portuguese manager was not satisfied with his efforts on and off the field, and he left their squad in quite a while.
Ultimately, English International was to secure a loan move to Aston Villa. Since joining Emery’s team, he has worked in a total of 15 games and has contributed to nine goals. He’s been doing well and United could consider recuperating him with his team, but Shearer thinks it’s not happening as long as Amorim is in charge.
Marcus Rashford needs to go ahead
He doesn’t have a career at Old Trafford, so they try to get cash for him. His performance allowed them to raise a great deal of funds from his departure. Selling him in the summer could provide Manchester United with a huge boost in terms of profit and sustainability rules. As he is a player in his country, the funds raised are considered pure profits.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa is considering securing his services forever, and they have a £40 million purchase option in the deal. Rashford appears to be interested in moving to Barcelona, bringing attention to his future future.
