Ilia Topuria did a quick job with Charles Oliveira on a Saturday night at the UFC 317 headliner.
As expected, “Elmatador” tried to get things done early against Oliveira, quickly closing the distance and lit up “Do Bronx” in a series of combinations. This caused Oliveira to clinch up and try to drag her opponent onto the mat. However, in the end, Topuria eventually went to side control and nearly caught Oliveira on the cross.
Oliveira attacked Topuria’s feet and forced the former featherweight king to retreat. After a quick reset of his legs, Topuria closes the distance again, unleashing a vicious right hook that caught Oliveira neatly, becoming unconscious and crashing into the canvas.
Later, with some extra hammer fist, umpire Mark Goddard stopped the contest just before the halfway point of the opening round.
Official Results: Ilia Topuria def. Charles Oliveira won the indisputable UFC lightweight championship at 2:00 in round 1 via KO (right hook).
