Knicks players were allowed to play below standard, but there were some performances to celebrate on the Hornets’ side.
Lamelo Ball scored 25 points and was supported by Miles Bridges for 15-10-4 nights. One of the other big score nights came from Mark Williams, who dominated the paint.
Williams scored 19 points, 14 rebounds and more boards than any player on the court, with Karl Anthony Towns leading the Knicks with 10.

Mark Williams’ big performance was one element of post-match debate over the New York-based MSG network, responding to the Knicks’ loss.
Veteran reporter Alan Hearn chose Williams’ dominant show, referring to his invalid trade with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaking to Hostville Pidoto, Hahn said:
“If they had a center where he could do what he would do… block the shots, finish it with the rim, rebound, look at the numbers he set.
He later added that Williams Isa was “clearly very healthy” and clearly delved into the Lakers’ concerns about the health of the Hornets Center.
Mark Williams was the center identified by Luka Donsic in the wake of a trade with the Lakers that could help the team.
The Lakers signed a deal and sent Cam Reddish, Dalton Knecht and their first round pick of 2031 to the Hornets.
The Lakers cited unknown health reasons for their decision, but Mark Williams suggests there could be more in it.
As his latest performance has shown, Williams is about to overcome a failed deal. The Lakers are doing it with center Jackson Hayes.
As Hearn points out, Williams of the Lakers may have been a horrifying opposition.
