The Oaks course at TPC San Antonio is the stage for the Valero Texas Open this week for the 15th consecutive year, as the PGA Tour treks through Longhorn State. Min Wu Lee held back Scotty Schaeffler and Gary Woodland to tee a new 156-player field tee at San Antonio in Masters qualifying after winning his first PGA Tour last week at the Texas Children’s Houston Open. If they are not exempt yet, only the winner will be able to enter the first major of the year.
Akshay Bhatia won the Denny McCarthy playoffs at San Antonio before the season. The two return for another shot in the crown. Bhatia will see his first action since finishing third in the athletes’ championship on March 17th. McCarthy appears to break through after already posting five top 20 finishes this season. Corey Conners won Valero Texas Open in 2019 and 2023. San Antonio’s $9.5 million share will be on the market, with $1,710,000 being the winner.
