Leon Edwards is set to headline UFC London at O2 Arena this Saturday. The former champion, who lost his title to Beral Muhammad at UFC 304 last July, is determined to return to the octagon to make a statement.
Sean Brady’s Leon Edwards
Speaking to the media ahead of his UFC headlining match, he reflected on his thinking as he heads into the fight. Leon Edwards expressed a sense of excitement and commitment. “I’m excited to go there and play again. I feel like I’m going there to get my mistake right. I owe it to my British fans and myself,” he said.
Leon Edwards has acknowledged Brady’s grappling skills, but he feels he’s well prepared for the challenge. “This is the style I’ve prepared for the last five fights, so it was easy to adjust everything for this training camp,” he explained. Edwards, confident in his physical benefits, added that “size, reach and strength play a major role in this fight.”
Beral Muhammad
When asked about his loss to Beral Muhammad, Edwards dismissed Muhammad’s claim of rule. “The way Beral talks is like he defeated me and abused me. All he did was wrestling me and hugging me in a cage. He didn’t do any real damage,” Edwards said. However, if things are consistent, he remains accepting the rematch, but for now he is focusing on Brady.
Edwards also worked on the transition from champion to challenger, embracing the role of a loser. “I always felt like a loser, and it took me a while to sink and get back what I need, but now I’m ready to go again,” he said.
Leon Edwards believes his strong performance against Brady will allow him to quickly redirect him back into the title fight. “If I cleaned up Shaun, it should lead me to the title shot,” he said with confidence.
Edwards rejected the prediction that Brady would submit him. “I have never been in the trouble of submission in my career. I have fought people in Jiu-Jitsu than he.” Saturday night represents more than just a battle with Edwards. It’s an opportunity to prove yourself and silence the critics. “This fight is more for me than anyone else,” he concluded. With support and a new focus on HomeCloud, Edwards aims to regain his position as one of the department’s elite fighters.
