Manchester United came in 14th in the Premier League table after a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium on Sunday.
The Red Devils needed an equalizer of stop time from Rasmus Hozilund to avoid their 16th loss on top flights this season in the club’s significantly lower-ranked campaign.
Ineos and Ruben Amorim must work together to ensure that recruitment work this summer has become a spotlight, with too many missteps in recent years, including signing Mason Mount in the summer of 2023.
Why Mason Mount was a Manchester United flop
England International has had a tough time in Manchester so far, signing Chelsea’s Red Devils for a reporting fee of £55 million than its 2023/24 campaign.
Since the start of last season, Mount has missed a whopping 50 games with calves and hamstring injuries.
However, when available, the English offensive midfielder returns one goal in all competitions and one goal in 39 appearances, not doing enough to justify the money spent on his services with one assist.
Market Movers
Football Fancast’s Market Movers series explores the changing landscape of the modern transfer market. How much is your club’s star player, or is it worth the biggest flop of today?
This caused his market value to plummet to just £24 million, according to TransferMarkt. This shows that the midfielder was a Manchester United flop as he didn’t provide goals or assists or offered no consistent availability and now he was a much lower fee than what he paid.
Andre Onana is not the only player from the 2023 batch of recruiting, as he should be mercilessly dumped by Ineos this summer.
Why should a man utd sell Andre Onana?
Manchester United reportedly paid £47.2 million to sign Cameroon International from Ajax in the summer of 2023, and his value has since plummeted.
Recently, it was reported that the club will consider an offer of at least £20 million for Onana. That means he can now be sold for less than Mount (£24 million).
As you can see from the highlights above, Onana recently lost her forgetting to Lyon with two mistakes in the Europa League and fell to Newcastle United in the Premier League.
It came after former United midfielder Nemanja Matic called him “one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United history” after being asked about Onana’s claim that his team is better than Lyon.
The Red Devils ultimately won a tie on two legs, but Cameroon International’s personal performance didn’t help much to dismiss Matic’s harsh claims.

As you can see in the table above, since Shot Stoppers have been getting errors throughout the last two seasons, creating errors is not a new issue for Onana.
He was not a reliable, safe, pair of hands between sticks due to these errors in the Premier League, Champions League and Europa League. So Ineos has to mercilessly cash him this summer.
United should move the Onana ahead, whether it’s a £20 million number or a fee for another number, and then try to recruit alternatives that they can rely on the week of the week at the top level without worrying about Amorim making consistently abusive mistakes.
