Another frustrating season is in the Charlotte Hornets book, hoping for a direction from 2025-26
The Charlotte Hornets launched the 2024-25 season filled with lofty optimism. After ownership, front office and head coaching recruitment at Charlesley, the ball club wanted a more competitive year.
These changes were not sufficient. Like in the last few seasons, the Hornets once again found themselves in the bottom tier team and settled into a terrible top-14 finish in the final Eastern Conference Ladder.
The Hornets are currently hoping for luck in the NBA Draft lottery, but need more from their previous high-pick lamello balls.
As the Hornets’ mediocre cycle continues, Lamelo Ball is currently under increasing scrutiny.
The Hornets identified the ball as the highlight of the future when they drafted him as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. But five years later, the organization has not yet made a profit.
Under the ball age, the Hornets have not yet made the NBA playoffs and continue the drought that has been around since 2016. The deepest part of the Hornets with the franchise stars was their play-in tournament finish in 2021.
Many wonder if the Hornets should still believe in the ball to bring their teams to relevance. NBA Insiders even reported that his future at Queen City is currently being monitored by several league circles heading into the summer.
Many already doubt that the ball is a franchise-friendly one, but Isaiah Thomas believes the Hornets should keep their patience intact for the 23-year-old.
When asked about Lamelo Ball’s ability to lead during X’s Q&A, he replied: “He’s Yessir. It takes time and experience. He makes that team right.”
Isaiah Thomas was able to share the court with the ball during the 2021-22 season. It was just a single season, but Thomas certainly saw something special from the former Rookie of the Year.
The Hornets’ top deserve a lot of responsibility and responsibility for why the franchise has been stagnant over the years, but Ball has to pay enough attention to admit that he has been a disappointment for Charlotte in the past.
Ball had only had one healthy season since he became the Hornet. He must embrace improvements, especially in his defensive side and decision-making. There, there is concern about a career average of 3.3 turnovers.
This season, the ball averaged 25.2 points on 7.4 assists and 4.9 boards in a total of 47 games. His talent and the possibility of being one of the best cannot be denied, but something is missing as ESPN’s Brian Windhorst denounces his performance.
Their offseason is long enough for the Ball and the Hornets to reevaluate their partnership. There is still a chance he will team up with Cooper Flag.
