The name of the 309-match T20 veteran playing for royal challenger Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is being debated after India’s Kris Srikkanth made a comeback at Asia Cup 2025.
Kris Srikkanth said the Indian Cricket Committee (BCCI) should seriously consider Bhuvneshwar Kumar as a pace bowling option for Asia Cup 2025, due to the quality he brings to the table.
I don’t know why people don’t see him at all – Kris Srikkanth
In a video shared on his YouTube channel “Cheeky Cheeky”, Kris Srikkanth admitted that his right-hand pacer performance was not good in the T20 World Cup 2022, but highlighted his recent IPL Heroics.

He said Bhuvneshwar Kumar is an outstanding bowler with a new ball and he should be on the radar of the selectors in Asia Cup 2025.
“I might think about it because he does great (recovers Bhubuneshwar). All fair, he didn’t do well in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-finals, but he didn’t do well before that.
“I don’t know why people don’t see him at all. Bouvi is an outstanding Newball bowler. I think Bouvi should be looked at very seriously.”
Bhuvneshwar Kumar will star in RCB’s IPL 2025 victory
Bhubuneshwarkumar, a 35-year-old pacer, has been one of the best performances for Team India in the past year, having had a major impact on fatal swing bowling in all forms.
However, with age, his effectiveness declined and despite him working very hard and being able to make some comebacks on Indian whiteball set-up, the selector decided to move on from him in 2022.
He played against New Zealand in Napier in November 2022 and against South Africa in Pearl in January 2022. Talking about his final Test outing, it played against South Africa in January 2018 in Johannesburg.
Back in the T20 discussion, he played 309 20 over cricket matches in his career, bagging 327 wickets. In IPL 2025, he sparkled with 17 wickets in 14 games and played a key role in the RCB victory. Also in the T20IS he bagged 90 wickets in India in 87 games.
Asian Cup 2025: Mohamed Shiraj vs Prashid Krishnadivate resolved
Kris Srikkanth supported Mohamed Siraj to Pip Prasidh Krishna and third pacer with the Indian T20I team spot in Asia Cup 2025. He said:
“Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh are certain. Shiraj nods before Prashid Krishna. He has those fighting qualities. Prashid bowled very well in the IPL.
“Plashid and Shiraj bowled well for the GT with all fairness. But in its current form, Shiraj has that momentum and rhythm. I will continue to Shiraj.”
