Jack Draper says finding consistency will help Britt reach the ATP Finals in a row and challenge the best players in the world after his first top 10 entry.
Draper lifted Stuttgart and Vienna titles and reached the US Open semi-finals in last year’s groundbreaking campaign, but had to skip the United Cup, which opened the 2025 season in Australia due to hip issues.
He described tendonitis as a “time bomb” after retiring in the fourth round of the fourth round with world number three Carlos Alcaraz, but showed a glimpse of his best form on Saturday with a 6-1, 0-6, 6-4 victory at the Indian Wells.
“Relief, great sense of joy, great emotions,” Draper said.
“I’ve been through a lot in a few years, especially the last people who have been injured and are constantly trying to get back to a decent level.
“My goal at the end of last year clearly had some good results, but I really want to achieve consistency and reach the point where I push these top players in the world in the biggest tournaments.
“That’s the goal. So obviously coming through today’s game means so much for me, especially with the Carlos caliber players.”
Already guaranteed a top-10 spot on Monday, the 23-year-old hopes to make his first advance to the Master 1000 final when he meets Dane Holger Rune on Sunday.
“I’m already looking forward to tomorrow. I’ll take care of my recovery,” Draper said.
“You have to get through the victory like you do today, and my focus and energy is all about making sure I do all the right things to give you the best chance to win the tournament tomorrow.”
