The Memphis Grizzlies took advantage of their second chance to qualify for the playoffs as they secured a dominant 120-106 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
For the Memphis Grizzlies, it was a great game from start to finish. This was the exact opposite of previous losses to the Golden State Warriors.
Ja Morant’s big 3, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr., appeared, scoring 68 points in the evening.
Anthony Davis tried to put Mavs in the game, but his 40-point performance wasn’t enough.
All five of the Grizzlies starting lineup scored in double figures. This shows how good they are.
After the victory, Zack Edith received many praise from his teammates for his double double and paint presence, making things difficult for Derek Lively II, who scored zero points.
After a successful college career, Eday entered the NBA and won two National Player of the Year awards.
However, many people were questioning whether his game would be translated into the NBA.
In his rookie season, Edith posted solid numbers, averaging 9.2 ppg, 8.3 rpg and 1.3 blocks per game.
He took his regular season form into the play-in game, helping the Grizzlies win against the Mavs.
Jackson Jr. spoke about Edith. “I’m happy with him. I’ve always said he knows what’s best for him as he progresses in his career, and I think that’s coming together in many ways for him. Like every night. He knows we can probably get frustrated, but we’re grateful for how he handles it.”
Edey was the NCAA scoring champion last season and had a near perfect season before losing the championship game to UConn.
He won the two College Player of the Year trophies, but Jackson Jr. revealed that the players are still humble as rookies.
“He’s really humble. If I were the two players this year, there’s probably something I should say, but he won’t,” JJJ added.
Edey had 14 points and 17 rebound performances against the Warriors in their first play-in game. This is a good number.
However, he shot poorly from the field and the Warriors used him as a mismatch to score points.
Speaking about his improved performance against Mavs, Edey stated: “A lot of people said a lot about me after the last game. I just wanted to go out here and prove to people that I can.
Next comes the series against the OKC Thunder, Edey faces Isaiah Hartenstein’s experienced big.
Both of these players are excellent on the board, making it an interesting battle to watch.
